Cristiano Ronaldo have won the ballon d’Or for the fourth now. The Portuguese captain and Real Madrid forward have now capped a perfect year that saw him win both the Euro’16 and the champions league with Ballon d’Or trophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo was absent for the occasion because of Real Madrid involvement at the club world cup holding in Japan.

Cristiano Ronaldo beat Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann for the coveted trophy. Messi came second and Griezmann took the third position.

Now, Ronaldo is one ballon d’Or trophy short of Lionel Messi who has a record of five ballon d’Or trophies.

Ronaldo said shortly after been announced as the winner that ‘I never imagined winning this trophy four times,’ the former Manchester United man said. ‘I’m really happy and fulfilled.

‘When it’s the first time, the emotion is always special. But I feel today like I did in 2008.

‘I have the opportunity to thank all of my team-mates, the national team, Real Madrid, all of the people and players who helped me to win this individual award. ‘As you can imagine I feel so proud and happy to receive this amazing and beautiful ball, I am so happy.’
