Real Madrid had gone 40 games unbeaten before their weekend defeat at Sevilla and now Celta Vigo have beaten them at Santiago Bernabeu to hand them their second defeat in a row.

Zinedine Zidane men began the first leg of the Copa Del Rey quarter finals  sluggishly like the thought of last defeat was weighing on them.  The first half ended goalless.

In the second half, Real Madrid stepped up their game and would have gone ahead in the 60th minute through their second half substitute Alvaro Morata but he blazed it over the bar.

Four minutes later, Celta Vigo scored through former Liverpool flop Iago Aspas who has revived his career since returning home.  He was a torn on the flesh of Real Madrid defenders all night.

Aspas scored with a well placed shot in the middle after Casilla have dived to his left.

Marcelo gave Madrid a lifeline on the 69th minute when he equalized to the delight of the fans who have been in buoyant mood.
