Wayne Rooney 31, signed for Manchester United in 2004 for a reported fee of £25.6 million from Everton. Then, it was a huge fee for a player that is just 18 years old. Sir Alex Ferguson made it known then that it was big task convincing the board to shell out such huge amount for a young player.

Rooney wasted no time to settle. He made his debut September 28, 2004 against Fenerbache in the champions league and scored a hat-trick which made him the youngest player to have scored a hat-trick in a champions league match, he was only 18 years 335 days old.
