Arsenal overcame Burnley in the premier league who were meticulous with the ball in the whole of first half.
The game only came to live in the second half when Arsenal defender Mustafi headed their first goal in the 59th minute to give them the lead. But their celebration were cut short five later when Xhaka was sent off in the 65th for a two footed tackle on Steven Defour.
Burnley began pressing and made good use of their extra man to cause Arsenal persistence trouble in their defence and it finally paid-off in the 92nd minute when Coquelin tripped Barnes in the box and the referee Moss pointed to the spot. Gray stepped up and slot the ball down the middle to draw level with Arsenal.
Certainly, the decision infuriated Wenger who was seen visibly angry and moments later, he was seen shoving the fourth official who was directing him to leave the bench.
But the one man deficit and absence of their manager on the touchline did not stop them from showing the character of worthy title contenders. In the final minute of the injury time, Sanchez put in a perfect cross inside the box which Koscielny attacked but was caught by outstretched Ben Mee’s leg. Though, replays showed that the Arsenal defender was offside when Sanchez chipped in the ball but the assistant referee on the right failed to raise his flag and the referee pointed to the spot for the high-foot.
Alexis Sanchez scored his fifteen of the season with a cool taken penalty in the 98th minute to hand Arsenal a deserved victory. The victory brings Arsenal to 47 points and second on the premier league table thanks to Liverpool who lost at Anfield against Swansea yesterday( Liverpool 2-3 Swansea).
