Celta Vigo continued from where they left off last week at the Bernabeu. They have sent Real Madrid packing and their chance of winning the treble is gone.
Real Madrid defender Danilo had an evening to forget when he scored an own goal in the 44th minute to give Celta more advantage.
In the second half, Madrid changed gear and were pressing well and in the 61st minute, Ronaldo was brought down by Cabral and he rose to the occasion and scored to level the game 1-1. Real Madrid began to exert more pressure on the Celta defence knowing that one more goal will force the tie into extra time but it wasn’t to because Jozabed who came in the 84th minute controlled superbly to lay the ball to Wass, who finished calmly in the 85th minute to restore Celta’s advantage.
Real Madrid didn’t give up and were levelled again in the 90th minute through Vasquez but the 4 minutes added time was little for Madrid to make any comeback victory. They will now concentrate on the league and the Champions league when it resumes next month.
