Odion Ighalo 27, joined Changchun Yatai in the just concluded transfer window for £20m from Watford FC.
Ighalo started only fourteen premier league matches this season before making the big money move to Chinese Super League. He scored once and also made only one assist. He spent two and half seasons with the hornets.
While speaking to Brila FM Lagos on his transfer, he highlighted his reasons for leaving Watford. He said “lack of game time and change of tactics from Walter Mazzarri forced him out”.
He played down on the rumour that he’s been paid £200,000 by his new club and said that he was offered much more than that two years ago but he turned it down but this time, the deal is less than what’s been quoted on the papers.
Ighalo joined the list of high profile players (Mikel, Oscar, Tevez and Witsel) to switch Europe for China this season.
