Manchester City comes out on top in this captivating and scintillating eight goals thriller at the Etihad stadium.

Monaco began very well in tonight Champions League with their high end pressing and quick close up system. But on the 26th minute, Leroy Sańe produced a moment of magic when he dribbled and riddled past Monaco defenders who were seem perplexed perhaps when he found Sterling unmarked and levelled to tap in Manchester City first goal of the night. Monaco continued their high end pressing and it paid off six minutes later when City’s goalkeeper Caballero gave a pass away to Monaco player who put in a perfect cross for fit-again Falcao to score with a diving header. Moments later, Monaco stunned Manchester City with a timed and quick free kick from the center circle to find young and talented Mbappe, who made no mistakes to score his first goal in Europe.
In the second half, both teams were up for the win and five minutes from restart, Monaco were awarded a penalty for a foul on Falcao but the Colombian failed to convert from the spot. Monaco were made to moan for their penalty miss eight minutes later when Sterling intercepted a pass from his own half and produced a good counter attack when he found Aguero whose shot was badly handled by the Monaco goalkeeper Subasic to bring Manchester City levelled. Again, Manchester City defender John Stones made a schoolboy error when he failed to clear the ball and allowed Falcao to dispossess him and score a beautiful chipped goal and restored Monaco’s lead in the 61st minute. Manchester City made a change immediately and brought in Zabaleta for Fernandinho who had a torrid time at left back and the introduction of Zabaleta brought balance to City side.  Sergio Aguero scored a beauty of volley in the 71st minute from Silva’s corner and that equalizer gave City the momentum and six minutes later, John Stones atoned for his earlier mistake to give the lead and Sańe ensured that City takes a two-goal advantage to France in three weeks.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping that his side can raise their game in Monaco if they are to progress to the quarter finals.
