Arsene Wenger have become an emperor in Arsenal FC and as it stands only Emperor Wenger can decide his own future.

Wenger wondering where he got it all wrong

Arsene Wenger came to Arsenal in 1996 after a brief stint in Japanese league where he won the emperor’s cup and Japanese super Cup but before then he had managed Nancy-Lorraine between 1984-1987 but it was with AS Monaco that he won his first league title in 1987/88 and in the 1990/91, he won the coupe de France but his inability to repeat the success in subsequent years caused Monaco to terminate his contract under mutual agreement.
Wenger arrival at the highbury was very much admired by most gunners because of his attacking football sense and his idea that football should be attractive and his ability to field and groom young players which he has maintained till date. Two years later, Wenger won the league and the FA Cup and in 2001/02 he repeated the same feat by lifting the premier league title and FA Cup.  In 2003/04, his team were invincible as they cruised to the title without a single defeat,a feat only achieved by Preston North End 115-years earlier. He became the toast of English football with everyone wanting to know his next move or target of players which culminated in his nine years trophy-less campaign.

His players no longer understand his gestures.

Many factors contributed to his stagnation and also ran status in the league including the influx of foreign owners and his firm grip on Arsenal purse. In the last five years, Statistics have shown that among the current top six teams in the premier league today, Arsenal have spent the least on the purchase gross of players.
 Check the list below :

Manchester City…………….£565,650,000

Manchester United…… …..£528,800,000

Chelsea……………………….£507,459,000

Liverpool……………………. £365,600,000

Tottenham………………… ..£315,450,000

Arsenal……………………….£298,340,000

Check the list of premier league winners in the last seven years below :

2009/10………….. Chelsea

2010/11………….. Manchester United

2011/12………….. Manchester City

2012/13………….. Manchester United

2013/14………….. Manchester City

2014/15………….. Chelsea

2015/16…………… Leicester City.

Study the above lists carefully and you agree with me that the above clubs who had spent more in the last five years have dominated the premier league in the last seven except for Leicester City that won against all odds like Blackburn Rovers in 1994/95. These three clubs successes are no rocket science therefore can be replicated in Arsenal if Emperor Wenger had managed to match these clubs spending power. What baffles me more is that Arsenal FC have quoted growth in their financial records within these periods but have failed to inject the desired amount in the transfer market.

In these periods, Wenger and Arsenal have become scout for the the big three in the league and they have been unable to hold on to their star players. Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri, Sagna, Fabregas and Robin Van Persie have all left Arsenal in recent years and funny enough they have all won the premier league trophy except Sagna( though he has won the league cup). With recent contract debacle surrounding Sanchez and Ozil, it’s only a matter of time before their exits.

Their recent Champions League shambolic display showed how Arsenal have fallen from grace to grass in twinkle of an eye. The players couldn’t help but laugh at the level they have dropped when they were hammered 5-1 against Bayern Munich in round of 16 (10-2 aggregate).  This season, their favorite position which is fourth is in serious threat from Manchester United and Liverpool, who are one point behind and two points above them respectively.

Arsene Wenger should be thinking beyond the Emirates stadium at the moment. Arsenal have lost their fear factor and become a shadow their old self. Missing out on the Champions League slot this season might be the final straw in his already strained relationship with the fans.

Arsene Wenger should do himself and the board a favor by leaving the club at the end of the season.
