Chelsea are already the “the champions elect” and with the fixtures so kind to them it will be near impossible if they fail to lift the premier league title in May. Their next nine fixtures are

  • Crystal Palace (H)
  • Manchester City (H)
  • Bournemouth (A)
  • Manchester United (A),
  • Southampton (H)
  • Everton (A)
  • M’boro (H)
  • West Brom (A)
  • Sunderland (H).

Chelsea are favourite to lift the premier league trophy in May.

Their toughest challenge is in April against Manchester clubs (city and united) and Everton though Crystal Palace is usually a banana peel for them but with recent performance against Stoke City, it showed that the team is ready to grind out result in those difficult moments; if they can achieve 100% win record in April, then they will be champions before their first match in May. With that, we are saved to say that the first position is Chelsea’s to lose.
Manchester City will snatch the second position from Tottenham Hotspur.  Remember, Pep Guardiola and his team began the campaign like every other team will escort them to the title but Tottenham humbled them and since then, their  performances have been lukewarm to say the least. But with the European distraction out of their way, they will mount a serious challenge to Tottenham’s second position.  Their  fixtures are:

  • Arsenal (A)
  • Chelsea (A)
  • Hull City (H)
  • Southampton (A)
  • Manchester United (H)
  • M’boro (A)
  • Crystal Palace (H)
  • Leicester City (H)
  • Watford (A).

Their biggest challenge will be against Chelsea and Manchester United.  They will come out with positive result at the Emirates stadium considering Arsenal poor and shambolic display in their last four matches, is obvious the Citizens will pile more misery on Wenger.
The third position belongs to Mauricio Pochettino and his boys who have grown into men this season with consistent performance every week.  But with the loss of their talisman Harry Kane, it will hard for them to maintain their dominance and it was evident in their last match against Southampton in the second half, if not for their first half heroic attack, the outcome would have been different. With kind fixtures, they will finish third with or without Harry Kane.

Tottenham are the only unbeaten team at home this season.
Liverpool have always raised their game whenever they are playing the top six teams in the premier league this season and if they can steady their act against lower teams, they will surely complete the top four this season. Their agonizing defeats came from Swansea, Leicester City, Hull City, Burnley and Bournemouth.

In their final nine matches, they do not have any of the top six teams to play which is fantastic and equally a good news if they can replicate their performance against Man City last week in their remaining fixtures:

  • Everton (H)
  • Bournemouth (H)
  • Stoke City (A)
  • West Brom (A)
  • Crystal Palace (H)
  • Watford (A)
  • Southampton (H)
  • West Ham (A)
  • M’Boro (H)

Arsenal will miss out on the top five this season, with the increased believe in the red half of Manchester and commanding displays in recent matches, it will be difficult for Arsenal to overtake them with their current form. For United, they have a rare window of opportunity Champions League next season; if they can lift the Europa league trophy which qualifies them automatically for the prestigious competition next season.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Manchester United or Arsenal or both can finish in the top four?
