West Ham have ended Tottenham nine-matches unbeaten run and equally unlocked their mean defense.  Before now, West Ham have not beaten any of the top eight teams in the premier league this season and last night they did it in style with their dogged, resilient and energetic performance.

Lanzini celebrates his goal

West Ham midfield duo of Noble and Kouyate worked their socks off to stifle the creativity of Eriksen thereby starving Dele and Harry Kane who was hardly noticed in the match, any real good chance on goal. Though,  Tottenham had majority of the possession but they hardly had any impact on the final third, with Byram and Cresswell supporting the back-three so well, Tottenham had limited space and for the first time in several matches, West Ham was able to cause Tottenham backline a lot of trouble with the trio of Lanzini, Calleri and Ayew.

The man of the match Lanzini celebrates with his teammates.

The trio were closing down Tottenham’s defenders and made sure they wouldn’t build from the back, which is the hallmark of their play.  Lanzini gave a man of the match performance with his trickery and burst of speed with the ball which was a nightmare for Tottenham defense.
West Ham win last night means that Chelsea could be crown champions of the premier league before Tottenham play their next match.  Chelsea will face Middlesbrough at the Stamford Bridge on Monday before facing West Brom away on Friday and if they are able to win the two matches, they will be champions.
